week 1: michelle
It's been a week since school has ended and I'm already waist deep into MCAT studying. Here are some of my favorite moments from the past week.
We watched the world cup together at Alisa's apartment with Michael's "frocking projector" and it was pretty great. I ended up making pesto pasta and salad for lunch and we all got to eat and hangout at grad after.
Brisa 2757's grad party was also super fun! We took these pictures to commemorate our (f)ÚTBOL watching party.

For father's day, I watched some of the World Cup with my dad and went to Tomi for a huge sushi/Chinese food buffet dinner. We waited for an hour but the food was super worth it. I wish I took more pictures! Will try to take more next time.
lmao my dad picked me some flowers from that bush and then I put them in his pocket. |
o yea and I cut my own hair too whoops.
It was 11:30pm and I thought "well when am I going to have time to go to the salon to cut it?"
the process of taking this selfie made me realize how |
12:05am and this is what happened.
Now we look the same.
I cut off about 9-10 inches because I wanted to make sure I had enough to donate (Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program only requires 8 inches). Because of that, I ended up cutting my hair a lot shorter than I would've normally. But all for a good cause right??
haha oops at least my head is a pound or two lighter now
Here are some other things I did over the past week.
On Friday, I hung out with Charlene and got to catch up with her. We went to Ritual's store opening and stopped by Happy Lemon on the way home. Although I can't hang out for long because of MCAT studying, I really appreciate times like these, because we talk about how God is moving in our families and it gives me a lot of hope for our parents. Please pray for her grandfather's health as he's been going through a rough time.
These past two weeks, I've been reading Ecclesiastes and at first, it was challenging for me to really understand the underlying message. But this commentary has a lot of wisdom and breaks it down a little better. This quarter has been pretty challenging for me academically and I wish I performed better. But honestly, I know that it's only in God that I can find true satisfaction in the work I do.
"There is no ultimate soul satisfaction to be found in work in and of itself. Work must be done with all of our hearts in the name of Christ and for the glory of God in order for it to have meaning and allow us to experience the joy of the Lord (Colossians 3:17, 23)."
All the wisdom and knowledge that I've been (trying to) gain from studying for the MCAT is also meaningless without God. Reading Ecclesiastes at first was kind of disheartening at times, but it really is full of wisdom and truth, even if it's pretty harsh. It highlights the necessity of God in our lives who is the one that gives meaning to it. Whenever we push God aside and try to take things into our own hands, it's easy to find that our work is purposeless and meaningless.
"Solomon recognized that both the fool and the wise man will die, so in light of time and existence, there really is no value to wisdom if God is taken out of the picture."
I hope that this weekend, I can go check out churches with or without my mom. It'll be challenging because I have to plan my rest day or wake up early enough to make sure I have enough time to study. Please pray for clarity and wisdom to understand that these things happen on God's time and not my own.
However, enough procrastination for today! The next time I start/write a blog post will be on my rest day because clearly this can be a source of procrastination :)
